Oh, what a wonderful meal! I was so impressed with the quality of food! All three of us were in food heaven after our meals. This a relatively small, but intimate eating area, with close access to the bar. This was our first visit to Naschmarkt, and we were pleasantly surprised. My wife shared a tasty salad with my daughter, who marveled at how good it tasted (she is not really a salad eater). I started with the sunchoke soup. The flavor was so incredibly rich - I nearly licked the bowl clean! Seriously, if I had nothing more to say, I would be satisfied with this soup alone, as it really warmed me up and went down oh, so smoothly. Delicious! The Jager Schnitzel which had a nice savory flavor, nicely balanced with the creamy mushroom sauce and the baby broccoli. The Kraut Rouladen just melted in my mouth with savoriness, nicely complimented with the roasted fingerling potatoes and kale. My daughter had the cheese pretzel. The pretzel was thick and chewy (but not in a bad way) and did not have that toughness that one may encounter with pretzels at the malls . Curious, however, was the hot melted cheese. It had the flavor of popcorn butter! We weren't expecting that at all! Well, though unusual, it worked! This would be a place I could frequent often, as the atmosphere is intimate and the food satisfyingly good. Highly recommended!
You'd be hard pressed to find many Austrian/German restaurants here in the Bay Area, luckily we have Naschmarkt to help fill that void. With a traditional dining room and a contemporary ambiance, Naschmarkt brings modern European dishes with quality ingredients. The beer and wine selection was extensive, and the craft cocktails were very impressive. My mother enjoyed a Naschmarkt Classic while I tried the Milk Punch Negroni, both were excellent in taste and composition. As someone that doesn't eat pork, one might think Austrian/German cuisine would be fairly restrictive, however there were a few options that were very appealing to us. We collectively had the game hen, pan seared salmon, and the goulash. Everything was delicious, wonderfully cooked and great flavor. For dessert we enjoyed a lava cake which topped off our good night. Would highly recommend coming here if you're looking for a nice meal. A touch more expensive than I thought, but I felt it was worth it.
We had an incredible time at Nashmarkt! Our server was incredible and the food was incredible! Both the outside seating and indoor seating offers a wonderful setting though the inside offers a better view of the bar and is a bit warmer. I would heavily recommend going here for a date night or a special family dinner!
Great food!!! Will be back to try more things on the menu. Love the Deserts Hidden Gem.
Stopped in to try out this place that has some interesting food choices. Service was fast and friendly and prices a little on the high side. This is normal for good high end quality food. This place is clean and nicely decorated.
Took a friend here for her birthday last night. We had a lot of fun and left quite full! Pros- service was excellent, 5 stars for everyone who interacted with us. Water glasses were filled just at the right times, everyone was super helpful, and they read the notes section of my reservation and brought my friend a complimentary birthday dessert. Pros on food - enjoyed the pretzel with beer cheese and bacon, the salmon dish was my favorite. I enjoyed everything about the dish. Salmon was cooked well, asparagus added a nice texture, and the parsnip purée was nice and creamy. The flavor of the purée was also somewhat addicting! Cons on food - the beet salad was good, but lacked texture, everything in the salad was soft. The schnitzel was fine, but not the best I've had. Hummel Haus in S. Lake Tahoe has a really tasty one that I sometimes crave, along with several other dishes they serve as well. And while I enjoyed parts of my meal a lot, I didn't see myself craving anything from Naschmarkt the way I do when I compare them to Himmel Haus. Well, maybe the parsnip purée, that was really good! Overall, it was a nice dinner and as noted, their service was excellent. The atmosphere was nice too, for a celebration.
This is a place I've been wanting to check out. When our son said he was taking me here for my birthday I was very excited. Based on the reviews, I expected it to be good, but we'll say they exceeded my expectations with the quality and flavors of the food and cocktails. It was a wonderful evening from the greeting at the door, table service, ambience, and tasty meal. I ordered the Hungarian goulash and it was all around perfection. The meat was tender, the flavors were elevated, and the portion was generous. it went very well with my smoked cocktail.
Naschmarkt is a gem of a restaurant that beautifully blends classic German flavors with modern touches. From start to finish, the service was outstanding. The manager (or possibly the sommelier) came over to recommend some fantastic wine pairings for our table, which really elevated the entire experience. The wait staff was equally impressive, clearing our plates promptly after the appetizers and bringing out all of our entrées at the same time--a detail that doesn't go unnoticed. They were also knowledgeable and provided excellent suggestions throughout the meal. As for the food, the classic schnitzel was a standout. The breading was crispy, light, and perfectly seasoned, making every bite incredibly satisfying. I also absolutely loved the sausage trio appetizer, which offered a great variety of flavors. And let's not forget the pretzel appetizer--served with a creamy cheese dip that was a huge hit at the table. Overall, Naschmarkt delivered an exceptional dining experience, and I can't wait to return. Highly recommend!
We were super impressed from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by both a server and the host, and seated right away. Had heard for a while now that this place was amazing, So we finally decided to see for ourselves. It's hard to believe they've been open for 13 years and we had never visited until now. We looked over the menu and decided on our orders, but after hearing the specials, we couldn't resist trying them. We started with bangers and sauerkraut and a stone fruit salad. For the main course, I opted for the beef stroganoff while my wife chose the pork schnitzel. Every dish was fantastic! And of course, we couldn't finish on such a high note without dessert. The dessert menu was too tempting to pass up and since our boys weren't with us, it was hard to just choose 1. So we ordered the apple strudel and soufflé. I'm so glad we did because they were absolutely delicious! It's been a long time since we've been to a restaurant where every dish was excellent, and the service was impeccable. Thanks to the entire team for a wonderful dining experience especially our server Jonathan!
